Change is constant, and as a result, the Ford Mustang and its surrounding legacy is an ever-moving target. The 2010 Ford Mustang is promised to receive some fashionable updates that will soothe the “small” appetite, yet appease the legendary hunger every blue-blooded fan possesses. With all the excitement almost smothering the 2009 Ford Mustang debut, the 2010 Mustang is capturing the limelight, in photos as well as video. We found a good one out there we think you might want to see. Take a look and see what you think.
With a quick view of the 2010 Ford Mustang spy video, anyone can see some of the most prominent changes are light touches to the 2010 Ford Mustang grille, as the camouflaged mules are showing some additional detail near the headlights. Also, the hood has some adjusted creasing to it, but it could just be supposition, given that manufacturers often pack padding and Styrofoam into the jackets of the black masking that covers prototype vehicles.
While most of the apparent changes hint at some sharpening, we can’t tell for sure that the overall S197 Ford Mustang has really changed all that much. The coupe and convertible test ponies were sighted wearing some double-spoke wheels and simple low-profile rubber. With shadowing and masking present, it is hard to discern if the sweet Mustang rump has changed at all. The rear bumper and post-facade seem to have remain unchanged from the 2005+ stamp.
Most rumors thus far about the 2010 Mustang have hinted (with focus) on the underhood contents rather than the exterior. Several hints, some from Ford, some from fans, have suggested that the famous 5.0 liter V8 will make its return and supercede the trusty 4.6 liter that has been in the pony car since 1996. This mild increase in displacement, if it reaches fruition, should achieve a modest increase in power and torque.
If eyes aren’t on the slurping V8, they are on the bread crumbs dropped about the EcoBoost 3.5 liter V6 powerplant. This potential torque-laden twin turbo setup would be able to provide over 300hp, yet still post MPG figures well above the rumored 5.0 liter. If this next platform is vacillating about a powerplant selection, well, the engineers at Ford are volleying a few good choices. The tough part for them, however, is to predict just how hungry the Ford Mustang owner passion & thirst is compared to the squeezing crunch on the rising cost of food for these legendary pony cars.
