700 Horsepower twin turbo Reed Speed Ford Mustang
Reed Speed / Artisan 700HP Ford Mustang

Just another “Tuner” car? Not with this kind of Horsepower! Randall Reed Ford Dealerships have announced that in partnership with Artisan Performance (creators of the 700HP Camaro and one bad 600HP Lexus I-SF) you will be able to order your own twin-turbo, 700 horsepower 2010 Ford Mustang later this summer. Sporting new forged rods, Total Seal rings and new pistons that combine to drop the 4.6 Liter engine’s compression ratio enough to accept the 12 psi of dual-intercooled boost huffed through a set of Artisan Rear Mounted twin turbochargers. The there’s the high-flow exhaust system with a high perforamnce catalytic converters, custom intercooler and wastegate, and of course an ECU (exhaust control unit) upgrade to handle the fuel mapping and boost control necessary for turbocharged cars.

Randall Reed Ford dealerships are predominately in the Texas/Southwest region, but their vehicles can be ordered through associated dealership across the nation.

Adding all that horsepower wouldn’t be sensible without beefing up the stopping power as well, so Randall Reed added SSBC’s 14-inch brake rotors with six-piston calipers all around, enveloped with 20″ wheels. Said wild, wide wheels are masked by the BASF painted body kit that adds 1.5 inches at the front and 3″ to the rear! This is one beautiful, muscular car with performance that equals the looks!

Each vehicle will come with a numbered plaque and “owner’s Package”. The price hasn’t been released yet… but mouths are watering all over the world.

I’m sure this car will be at SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association) auto show in Las Vegas this November, so be sure to follow out live broadcasts and photo updates from the show, November 2009.

I found a really exciting prototype show car while traipsing around SEMA in Las Vegas today. Seems that Galpin Auto Sports of Van Nuys took a Ford Mustang GT convertible and went COMPLETELY NUTS on it. Sure, it started out as a 2008 Mustang GT, but it is completely unrecognizable now! Hand made composite body, voice command controled, even DUAL retractible steering wheels (left and right side drive, thanks to drive-by-wire technology)!!!

In the deep, 3 layer, candy purple paint, it looks like something the Joker might drive… if he could handle the 1000 horsepower twin supercharged power!

Of course, it sits so low to ground here, at a height that it would be impractical on most any road or track, but thanks to air ride technologies’ suspension system, the computer constantly gauges the road for the optimum ride height and firmness of the ride itself. and still, it “cuts” quite a shape… and those headlights!

DEARBORN, Mich, Nov. 4, 2008 – With the addition of the 2008 Cobra Jet Mustang, Ford Racing will have once again expanded its current stable of race-ready Mustang race cars.

This time, however, the Mustang is designed for drag racing.

The Mustang FR500CJ, known simply as the Cobra Jet, will be officially unveiled Nov. 4 at the 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. It joins its road racing brethren: the Mustang FR500S, the Mustang FR500C and the Mustang FR500GT.

“The Cobra Jet is the newest offspring of the Ford Racing lineup of race cars,” said Jamie Allison, manager of the Ford Racing Performance Group. “We started with the FR500C in 2005 and then followed by the FR500S in 2007. (more…)

May 14, 2008 - When customers take their new Ford Flex for its first spin this summer, they may be surprised by what’s missing:  the noise.

Flex delivers a quieter ride than competitors including the Acura MDX, Toyota Highlander and GMC Acadia, according to Ford tests.  That’s good news for customers, who tend to directly relate a vehicle’s quietness with its quality, says Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s group vice president of Global Product Development.  ”Quietness is a very good proxy for quality in a vehicle.” (more…)

DEARBORN, Mich., May 14, 2008 – The 2009 Ford Escape and 2009 Mercury Mariner are rolling out a new set of tires for improved fuel economy.

These two fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly SUVs boast a projected 1 mpg fuel economy improvement for both four- and six-cylinder models, thanks in part to a new set of 16-inch Michelin Latitude Tour low-rolling-resistance tires. (more…)

Dont know how many of you have seen this so I thought it was pretty interesting….

If driving a concept car is silly, writing a review of a concept car is like showing up at a black-tie wedding at the Ritz wearing clown shoes, red nose and a Bozo wig. Therefore if you’re reading this review to help you decide between buying any next-gen pony cars, whether the Camaro, the Challenger or the Mustang when they all hit the showroom floor in the next year and a half — just stop reading right now. Seriously, just look at the 28 brand-spanking-new pictures of the drop-top below taken courtesy of our very own Mike Bumbeck. Then I want you to go on to the next post, because a write-up of time spent behind the wheel of a car designed entirely for show and never for go will help you in no way to make a purchasing decision. If you’re interested in reading about driving a car that could fall apart at any moment, and which you may never get to experience (more…)

A member over at themustangsource.com forums posted up a few photos of a pre-production 2009 California Special GT/CS with the Glass Roof option and new White stripe option. The Glass Roof looks pretty sweet and the white stripe really stands out unlike the black one previously put on all 2007-08 GT/CS models. Word from the forum is that a Ford employee who lives in the house drove the car home. (more…)

Mustang Concept

Visually, the Mustang by Giugiaro appears more compact than the production car, thanks to a reduction of the rear overhang and a signature Giugiaro ‘trick’ of tapering the angles on the car to the limit of its mechanical outlines.

Still, the Italian version of America’s most popular muscle car hasn’t lost any of its swagger. (more…)
