Proceed to benefit Children’s Charities

SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association) is inviting car buffs and collectors to join in raising money for two children’s charities by registering their vehicle(s) in the inaugural SEMA Show ‘N Shine car show in Pasadena, California, on Saturday, August 1, 2009.

“From hot rods to racing-tuned torque monsters, and everything in between, our goal is to bring together some amazing vehicles and create a spectacular event,” said Mike Spagnola, chairman of the SEMA Show ‘N Shine car show. “We’re encouraging all enthusiasts to register their vehicles. There will also be food, live music and plenty of activities for the kids, so it will be a great family affair. We’d really like this enthusiast car show to become the showcase event of the summer and grow each year so we can raise more money for two deserving children’s charities.”

Chip Foose, award-winning automotive designer and fabricator, and host of TLC’s “Overhaulin’” is Grand Marshall of the show. All vehicle registrants will receive a free T-shirt designed and autographed by Foose. Trophies will be awarded for Best Engine, Best Interior, Best in Show and People’s Choice. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will have an opportunity to attend the trade-only SEMA Show in November, with free hotel accommodations in Las Vegas.

The cost to enter a vehicle into the car show is $75 per vehicle. Pre-registration to enter a vehicle(s) is available online at: www.sema.org/carshow. Space is limited and will be assigned as available, until 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 31. Vehicle move-in to the show hall will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1.

Tickets will be available at the event for spectators and car fans who wish to attend the car show. Admission is $5 for adults. Kids 12 and under get in free.

Proceeds from the SEMA Show ‘N Shine Car Show will benefit SEMA’s two chosen charities, Childhelp and Victory Junction Gang Camp. A promotional flyer for the SEMA Show ‘N Shine was created to help promote the event. Download the flyer and distribute it at your local car shows and help spread the word.

As a spectator, this is a seriously good deal, and one to keep an eye out for this August, folks. $5 to get you into a SEMA sponsored event? ANY Sema sponsored event? Using the SEMA show in Las Vegas as an example, these folks know how to run MEGA car shows. A chance to meet Chip Foose, too! You know this show will be big enough that there will be additional celebrities and camera crews to rub shoulders with.

$75 to get your car in the door for a mega-show like this is even a good deal, and better yet benefits a couple of really good charities. Plus you get a T-shirt designed and autographed by the man, the myth, the legend, Chip Foose.
